This easy, homemade cleanser is from The Natural Beauty Solution by Mary Helen Leonard. You can customise the recipe; the more castor oil, the more aggressive its cleansing power.

For normal skin, use 2tbsp castor oil to 1/4 cup rose hip seed oil and adapt this to 3tbsp castor oil to 1/4 cup (+3tbsp) rose hip seed oil for oily skin. If you have dry skin, just combine the last four ingredients in this list.

You Will Need

  • castor oil (2tbsp)
  • rose hip seed oil (1/4 cup)
  • castor oil (3tbsp)
  • rose hip seed oil (1/4 cup (+3tbsp))
  • castor oil (1tbsp)
  • rose hip seed oil (1/4 cup (+1tbsp))
  • avocado oil (2tbsp)
  • jojoba oil (2tbsp)

Step 1

Combine the oils in a bottle and shake well.

Step 2

Run a clean face cloth under hot water. Wring out the face cloth and place it over your face for about 30 seconds, then remove.

Step 3

Drop about 2 teaspoons of oil cleanser into your palm, and massage it onto your face and neck in a slow, circular motion. Continue for a minute or two. Run the cloth under hot water, wring it out, and steam your face for 10 seconds.

Step 4

Wipe the oil from your face, then repeat the steaming process two to three more times.
