The tradition of counting down the days until Christmas is thought to date back to 19th century Germany, when Protestants lit candles and made chalk marks on doors to observe the days. Fast forward to windows hiding chocolates and, in recent years, everything from tea to your favourite tipple and advent calendars have become part of the seasonal prelude for children and grown-ups alike.
This year, why not make yourself an advent with a difference? For many of us, the lead up to Christmas can be busy and overwhelming, so our Mindful Moments advent calendar is designed to remind you to pause and take some time for you.
Each day, we suggest a mindful meditation, observation or activity to help you feel calm, centred and ready to enjoy the season. You can use our suggestions or, if you have a practice that works for you, add in your own mindful moments too.
