Mention a triathlon and you think of long-distance running, cycling and swimming, but Wanderlust 108 is a triathlon with a difference, focusing on mindfulness and wellbeing. The UK’s first ‘Mindful Triathlon’ will take place at Victoria Park, London, on Saturday September 23, 2017.

Wanderlust's triathlon still has three events: a 5k run (or you can walk, if you prefer a gentler option), then a 90-minute yoga class, and a 30-minute guided meditation session to clear your mind and relax your body.

The day starts with the 5k run at 9am, but the site is open from 7.30 for you to sign in and drop off your bags. The 5k lasts until 10.30 so there's no hurry if you want a slower pace, and it's sponsored by adidas who provide a run leader to keep you motivated.

From 11am it's the 90-minute yoga session, led by Julie Montagu of theflexifoodie.com and triyoga’s Celest Pereira (http://celestpereira.com). Julie is one of the top yoga and nutrition teachers in London, and combines her expertise of self-care yoga with nutritious recipes in her three best-selling superfoods books. Celest is the author of The Yoga Mentor and teaches around London; she has a degree in Physiotherapy, a background in dance, and studied hatha yoga and Vipassana meditation in India.

Part three of the triathlon is the meditation session, from 12.30pm. For 30 minutes you'll be guided by spiritual leaders, to revive your body, mind and soul.

After all that, there are still plenty more activities to join with: acroyoga, aerial yoga, walking meditation, and hula-hooping on the lawn, and dancing to live music and DJs on the main stage. Session leaders include Eugene Butcher and Pip Elysium of AcroYogaDance in the Uncommons, and Anna Byrne of Hulafit.com, who set up the London Hula Hoopers community - you can learn how hooping is great for toning your stomach and improving your balance and co-ordination.

You can enjoy a tasty organic lunch at the True North Cafe, and visit the Kula Marketplace, where you can shop from local sellers and craft stalls. Learn more about the day's lineup and schedule here.
